Why it matters
Ethical Investment Week is co-ordinated by Australia's Ethical Adviser's Co-Op, a group of leading financial experts and ethical advisers. It's purpose is to give you an opportunity to ensure your investments are best suited to your beliefs, attitudes and ethics by consulting with advisers who are specialists in this area.
Many Australians don’t realise that they are investing in companies that degrade the environment, harm society, and abuse basic human rights, often through their 'default' superannuation fund. However when they are informed about their investments in these harmful industries, many choose to remove these investments from their financial portfolios completely.
In recent times, the divestment movement has gained a lot of publicity. However divestment is only half the story - when investing according to your ethics, you should look beyond the negatives, and focus on the positives. A key part of this is knowing where to reinvest. Investors consistently want to understand how long term outperformance has been achieved in ethical, sustainable and 'socially responsible' portfolios.
Our FAQs and Resources page are designed to help you learn more about Ethical Investing.
